Are you making these mistakes in your blog?

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

When it comes to blogging, undoubtedly content is the king. But, equal importance should be given to the presentation style and your language skills. Probably, you can call your language skills as the queen then. Good content presented in an interesting style makes a great blog.

To start with, let us avoid making simple spelling mistakes in our posts. Today, I took a spelling test for bloggers. This test is created with the top ten most misspelled words in blogs and it will allow you to see whether you're guilty of making these common mistakes. How did I perform?

That's not bad at all. Once in a while, it's good to have some fun. Want to see your score in the blogging test? Please take The Blogger Spelling Test here.

My big problem is dropping off the "ed" or the "r" in your, not because I don't know how to spell them rather I rush along saying what I'm writing and then not really editing. I think editing is the key. Loved the spelling test.

@Shirley: Good to see that you like it. Just to clarify, this is not my own test and I have just referred this from another site. Thanks.

@Jason: You are absolutely right. With sms, chat and e-mails, we are getting into simplified version of languages. Hope we can still retain a decent writing to communicate effectively. Thanks.

@Nick: Agre"ed". Mostly, we are behind time to do our regular posting. That poses an additional pressure to deliver. Consequently, we overlook the minimum requirements of spell-checks and editing. But, we need to make it a habit to at least go through the post once before publishing. Thanks.
